Initial Consultation

The process begins with an initial consultation to discuss the project in more detail. You will be asked to provide initial documents you have available (such as existing floor plans, photographs etc.) and you will be provided with an estimate of hours for the services to be rendered. 


TRACE works with residential interior design clients on a per hour design basis.

Given the custom nature of each project, the scope of work and size of the property, the amount of time to complete each project varies greatly.

For multiple or B2B projects Renata can also be hired on an ongoing basis as a freelance designer on the Upwork platform. 



Concept Development

In this phase the project brief is developed to include a comprehensive program for all the requirements, needs and preferences for the design of the space. Initial research is completed on the existing site, materials, processes and concepts that will best fit the project. Initial ideas are explored and developed through different visual means. 
The information gathered is presented in a Concept Presentation to begin to establish a design direction for the project. This typically includes inspiration imagery, color and material direction, installation concepts, sketches and spatial diagrams. 



Design Development & Drafting

The concepts presented in the previous phase are then further developed and refined through the creation of presentation drawings, 3D models, sourcing and budgeting final materials/fixtures/furnishings, researching and specifying the best installation methods for the project that will be presented for approval in a series of Design Presentations


Once the designs and presentation drawings have been approved, the ID AutoCAD drawing set is finalized to be sent to contractors for bidding and construction*. 



Project Management & Administration

Due to the corona-virus pandemic TRACE is currently not providing on site project management but is still available for assistance with all administrative tasks such as: 
  • Selecting and requesting product specifications, samples and pricing 
  • Managing project budget
  • Developing and managing materials, fixtures and furniture schedules
  • Providing clients with detailed purchasing list or purchasing on client's behalf (based on client preference) 
  • Providing instructions and continuous support throughout the installation phase 
  • Collaborating with installers, vendors and contractors 
  • Final Zoom Consultation with client upon project completion 

* If it is necessary to modify any of the structure or systems of the home (such as A/C, heating, plumbing, electrical, etc.) licensed architects and engineers will be consulted as needed for permitting & construction purposes. Trace will coordinate all work with consultants for the completion of your project.
